1984 toyota 4x4 fix up

Alright heres the deal. I inhearated my grand dads 84 4x4 stock everything. Been sitting for 5 years. Rust everywhere..but frame is in good shape. I want to get it going again. My grand dad had bought a weber carb before he died so instead of cleaning carb all out...I will just replace it. What else should I do before I try to get it going? So far I know to replace all fuel filters...and change oil. What do I do about gas tank? Is there a way to flush it and drain it? Or is that necessary?

completely take the gas tank out, prob replace the fuel pump, new filters and new rubber lines as they like to deteriate , id take the gas tank out and drain it and look inside to see if its rusty or not, if its clean rise it out with fresh gas and ut it back in, if its rusty you could easily find another one

I would just drain the old fluids out .. then add some NEW , so oil , antifreeze , and gas .. check plugs , cap and rotor and use a new battery . turn it over and see what you have

New filters plugs wires oil and fluids. Get an oil pressure Guage to ensure the pump is still good. Clean everything and change everything after that pull the wire from your coil and crank your engine. You don't want it to start up yet! Let some oil pressure build that way your valve train and camshaft get nice and lubed. 5 years is a while. This will also loosen up that old crank and those rings that are more than likely frozen. You don't want it to start up unless everything is lubed.

What state are you in? That truck looks familiar, as well as the scenery. Tennessee or Georgia?

Wasn't the one I saw. I haven't been to Virginia in a couple years, so your truck twin is in Georgia or Tennessee, I can't remember exactly where. Lol
