Will a '85 dash fit in a '79-'83?

Looking at potential project trucks and the dash on most is butchered and cracked.

I like the styling of the later dash. Will it fit? Will it protrude too much into the passenger space or have a gap at the windshield? Has anyone done it?

Not a chance. Be better off fabbing a dash yourself.

I've heard it can be a bolt in type thing, I can't remember what thread but it was on here... I was thinking of getting measurements from both to see if it would work. But everything including the main support would have to be switched.

I figured it would take ALL the '85 parts including the dash bar, HVAC components and ducts and a good chunk of the wiring harness and column controls. Might be easier to swap the entire harness along with the dash.

My main concern is the dimensions. Does it fit, and is the fit decent without large gaps or having to cut off chunks of the dash?

Does anyone have a dash they could throw into a cab for a test fit?

I love it. Just got here. Ask a completely off the wall question about parts compatibility and someone here has the answer in a few hours. Thanks Corey.

That's exactly what I needed. Looks like taking a little off the front corners off the dash will close up the gap in the middle below the windshield.

Thanks again.
