Will 79-81 front bumper fit on 82-83 pickup?

Will 79-81 front bumper fit on 82-83 pickup?
Just curious if a 79 to 81 pickup front bumper fit on an 82-83? I have an 82 and want the smooth bumper that was on the 79-81 rather than the plastic caps on the corners.
Couple other questions...
Is a 2WD bed the same as a 4WD bed for 79-83 pickups (shortbed). Or are the fenders flared on the 4WD?
Anyone know of any fender flares that will fit on these pickups? Looking for the mat black with notches for screws... For a nice aftermarket look. I'm looking for some flares similar to whats on this truck:

I know its a Datsun.. but I cant seem to find any Yotas with flares like this.

Bumper should fit, but I'm not 100% on that.
2wd and 4wd beds are the same other than that the 4wd had little plastic flares (like and inch) screwed/bolted to them.
The flares on my truck are brushwackers and they've held up pretty well for the last 10ish years and look sorta similar to that pic. Mine are the 3" IIRC (they cover 35x12.5 tires) and they made smaller ones back in the day. Not sure about the availability of them for the first gen trucks anymore. Good luck.

Yeah, Corey does make really nice ones that don't have all the screws on the outside. I'll be going with those when I get my "new to me" 2wd bed cleaned up and preped. The fronts he makes are full fender replacements.
They look way nicer and I'm sure will be way more durable but the OP was asking about the screw on style plastics so I let him know what I knew. The toyotafiberglass.com ones would definately be the better investment and you don't have to hack your fuel door (I'm pretty sure) like you do with the brushwackers.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. I forgot all about toyotafiberglass.com The flares on there look nice.. but a little big for my taste. I'm doing a drift truck similar to the datsun in the picture. Going to go with a bare metal finish with flat black accents. Tires will stick out a little but not quick 5 inches. Maybe at most 2 inches. So 5" will be a little too big. I might get with Corey and see if he has anything or could custom make something for me.

I found an 87 Supra with IRS I could have gotten cheap as they were parting it out. I may do that later on. But I gotta keep the truck pretty driveable for the time being as its my daily driver. So I can't do anything real major for a while. May do it after I get my 76 celica back up and running.. doing a 20r/22r hybrid build on it atm.

What he meant was the rear solid axle out of a later model IFS truck (rather than the early solid front axle trucks) which is wider. Most of us on here speak yota 4X4 so I don't know if the 2wd rears in the later (86' +) are wider but the 4x4's are. IIRC the 2wd's are 5 lug? All the 4x4's are 6 lug so that's something to concider.
Sounds like a cool project!

And isn't the 2wd a 7.5'' rear? The 4wd is 8''. I think supra IRS diff and all isn't as easy as it sounds, check this out: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f209...pertoy-114961/
Also remember the ae86 had a solid rear axle, it may not be a great drift car but it can definately be made to handle well!
A 76 celica sweet!! I love those!! got pics? but a truck motor in that? naaaww man put an 18rg they were made for that! Oh and twin carbs (ask bingle lol)

I really dont know of rear diff size. Havent got into it that much yet. I've thought about swapping parts from an AE86... I think their actually pretty notorius for being good drift cars... But anyways on the celica no I dont have any pics atm. Will get some when I can for you though. Its nothing special just an old worn out celica at the moment lol. Mines a liftback so its got the fastback japanese mustang look lol. And I'd love to do an 18rg build but those things are tough to find, tough to get parts for, and expensive when you can get them from what I've read about them. And the 22r wasnt just a truck motor.. it came in celica's and cressida's. Lots of people to the 20r/22r hybrid in R engine cars.

OK, I'll play, since I was called out. Yeah, it's true, DCOE's are bad a$$. The dollar signs are on purpose because they ain't cheap. I think that for a drift rig they's be pretty sweet though. 20/22r hybrid, oversized valves, double wrap valve springs, titanium retainers, mid to high rpm semi nasty cam, maybe some porting, good header, and a DCOE setup in a drift truck? Man, ALMOST makes me want a 2wd. I used to think about getting a 79 is cellica supra and dropping my engine in it.
I had an Offy dual plane manifold and a Weber 32/36 before I went to the DCOE's. I might have lost just a tiny bit of power/torque right off of idle maybe up to 1500rpm with the DCOE's, but from there on up it's all smiles. The real gains are in the top end for sure, from 3k up to whatever you're brave enough to rev a 22r up to they eat the 32/36 alive. They sound cool too.
If you want to go this way be aware that the minimum supporting mods to make them worthwile would be bigger valves, mid range cam, good header w/ high flow exhaust. Also you'll need a strictly mechanical advance distributor or one of those fancy crank trigger ignition systems, DCOE's don't support vac advance distributors, at least not in any fashon I'm aware of.
If you don't want to get too carried away (most don't, I think myself and Suncomb are the only ones on yotatech running DCOE's and his truck makes mine look like a joke. Custom built LCE engine + DCOE's + NOS
) I'd think a weber 38 and single plane offy manifold would get the job done nicely on a "stock" 20/22r engine.
Keep us all posted on the projects, we love yotas of all shapes and sizes around here. I'm embarassed to say that I had to look up what a 18rg engine was. Learn something new every day.

Hey Bingle. Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid to say when I get into building my truck and celica engine's I wont be holding back.. Probably wont be going with NOS as I want the engines to last a little while before needing rebuilt lol. As far as DCOE's go I'd love to be running dual side drafts in both my vehicles. Unfortunately I'll have to wait and save up money as they are a really pricey set up as you said.
The 18RG was a real mini monster. Unfortunately its a really hard engine to get your hands on these days, tough to get parts for and expensive when you can find them. Dont get me wrong if I had one I'd definitely throw that in one of them. But I dont. Had a chance to buy one a few years ago for $500 (dirt cheap) at the time I was flat broke... dude sold it before I got the money D:
Anyways I thought I'd stop by and link a couple pics for you guys. One of my truck and one of my celica
heres my truck in its current state:

And here's my Celica:

Neither one has anything too special going on aside from what they are but I've got big plans for both.

I will bestow upon you what knowledge I know about bumpers. The early bumpers (79-82) WILL fit a late (82-83) truck BUT the bumper brackets are NOT interchangeable between the bumpers so you'd have to get the bumper brackets that match the bumper. The holes in the bumpers appear the be the same, but they are spaced differently both horizontally and vertically. So for my 83 I had to get 79-81 bumper brackets (direct bolt on) to match the full wrap 79-81 bumper that I found. Just installed it this week (still needs to be adjusted so it fits straight):

Now here is the kicker, you have a 2WD so I'm not too certain on the bracket compatibility since those brackets are completely different than the 4WD brackets. I would start by finding so early brackets and seeing if they fit first. Then find the bumper.

Also, to find those brackets and possibly the bumper, go here:

No pictures, but I have ordered from them before with great success (my grille, headlight doors and bumper brackets all came from them). The parts are so ridiculously cheap that it is worth taking a gamble and buying parts to see if they will work out for you.

Man that is a killer website and to be honest would have never trusted it myself the parts are so cheap. I'll definitely be buying some stuff from them. But unfortunately they dont have a chrome bumper. Would you have any idea where I might find one?

Just did the 79-81 to a 1983 bumper on a 2wd had to change bumper, bumper brackets and front turn signal lights that sit in bumper. Everything bolts in but the turn signals have different connectors so you need to do some wiring.
