If its really from a 79 truck as you stated, it will be a W42.

Though yours looks a little different,

the numbers are the same as on the side of mine- w50 (5-speed)

a somewhat better way of telling, does yours have 33141-20090 stamped towards the rear? if so, i'm 999.9% its a w50

sorry no luck, mine is in need of rebuild anyway.

But I think the w50's were more common in celicas, you might check there too.

well i have a good one for you. i drained the tranny fluid the other day and stuck a magnet in it and there is no metal shaving in it. all the gears spin smooth.

probably not

the 1st 4x4 trans was the L43 4spd, which was a 2wd trans with an alum adapted between the trans and t-case

hey I may be interested in that, but not right away. Does 5th make a whirring noise? Can you even tell spinning it by hand?

Actually come to think of it i'll take the enigne too (if its a 22r not 20r)

I have a similar transmission to this however, instead of SK-31 below the rear case I have SK15A. Does this change anything? Also how much are one of these puppies worth?

Thanks,
John
