I ended up breaking the baseplate trying to make it seal ...
Put some new gaskets on and was tightening it down, ohh well

I think i'm gonna try the lc spiral adapter, just won't be driving my truck till I get it

Lc is good if the fuel atomisation therory of the plate works but it's a bit expensive. I'm real happy with my transdapt adapter and it's much cheaper.

I guess being in a hurry kinda limited my options.
You're right on the $$$ plus their shipping is over %20 of the price at Lc
hopefully it'll be worth it

Are you using that transdapt on a 32/36 ?

No on a 38/38, I'm a bit anal about port matching and anti-reversion so I needed whip out the dremel to smooth out the transition to my intake but my intake has been ported too so that might be why. It is also made in a funnel shape and is very tall, which adds more cc to the intake plenum which in turn ''should'' help in the higher rpms, but that is only theory.

Ok, I got the new lce spiral adapter installed and what seems like a good jet combination.

Default:
Main Venturi 26/27
Aux Venturi 3.5/3.5
Main Jet 140/150
Em Tube F50/F50
Air Corr Jet 170/180
Idle Jet 60/50
Pump Jet 50

New:
Main Venturi 26/27
Aux Venturi 3.5/3.5
Main Jet 145/155
Em Tube F50/F50
Air Corr Jet 170/190
Idle Jet 70/60
Pump Jet 55

Best I can tell with my narrowband o2 gauge i'm right around stoich now for cruise and idle. I might try a 180 air on the pri, but it seems pretty good so far. AFM screw out 1 1/2, idle screw out 2
It pulls great, no bog or popping. The big test will be mpg.

passing air care Vancouver BC---1982- r22-weber 32-36

passed air care and the engine runs better

premium 91 octane gas
changed timing advance to 4deg ( factory recommended 8deg)
increased idle mixture jet up one size to 65 ( from stock 60)
increased main jet one size to 145 ( from stock 140)
idle mixture screw = 1.25 turns out ( failed at 1.75 for air care testing) adjusted after air care cause it seemed to run better to 1.50 turns out....
cold choke set to run ok ... idle screw -- set to idle 900rpm
changed catalytic convertor to 3 way ( better at dealing with most and esp N0x's)
Vancouver auto parts # 608204 was only 100.00 this probably the most influential esp on N0x's ( and was what i needed to be reduced ) everything else was very low already...

NOTE: my engine had all the emissions removed or capped off as well as no air pump or EGR valve...

passed air care in Vancouver Canada with flying colors...

got 30 mpg -- tho really i have to look at that again -- i kinda don't believe it -- i'll do other tests and post... while away on holidays...

stock engine r22 with Weber 32-36
new timing chain and new cylinder head... compression on engine within specs....
with 2 lines running on the distributor

I wana say THANKS to this GROUP and everyone's sharing i found it super helpful!!!! hopefully my posting will help others too :-)

I have a Weber and only get about 20 mpg, that's why I was curious if his truck is 4WD. I think the 2WD get a lot better mpg.

I don't think you can get more than 23-25 mpgs with a properly tuned weber on a healthy engine in perfect conditions with a stock truck.

Before my rebuild I was able to get 30mpg with both the stock carb and the weber.
Gas mileage between the two was comparable for me with my 2wd 88' ... just a matter of slow and steady acceleration and always using high gears.
Since my rebuild I havn't gotten above 28mpg (usually around 25).

note: i'm usually the guy in the slow lane

An update - The links in the first post no longer work. Here:

Weber 38 tuning: http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tec...as_tunning.htm

You can also go to http://www.redlineweber.com/ then click on "Tech Information" in the left toolbar for lots of good info.

Also, why the hell isn't this thread stickied yet?!

Cheers!
