Weber carb electric choke

Ive got a 77 pickup 20r with a brand ner electric choke weber 32/36. On a cold morning, I tap the gas once which will turn on the choke, it starts right up and high idles nicely. Now I tirn it off by taping it again but that should only turn oloff once the electric choke feels the engine is warm right? If I start it up and then tap the gas a second time after its running, the choke will ˟˟˟˟ off and the idle goes down only after like a second of running, its still cold, so i can't drive with the choke on. And it idles real rough when its cold and the choke is off. How can i adjust the choke to stay on until its warm.

Adjust the choke per Weber instructions and check how it starts when cold. Tap the pedal once before starting cold

I think you're referencing one of my gripes with the Weber, which is that the High Idle gets disengaged as soon as you step on the gas and doesn't reset. The choke stays closed but the idle speed drops down to normal and on a really cold day that isn't good. I think it's simply a design flaw. The linkage kicks off the high idle cam and that's that. I've always thought that was really stupid.
