Waiting on my truck

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since I posted an update. I’ve still been regularly reading the site but haven’t posted lately. I have finally purchased a truck and am waiting to get it. I ended up buying a 1982 deluxe 4 sp 4wd. Once I get it I’ll be taking pics and posting updates. Here is some pics as she sits right now. She’s not perfect and I have some work to do, but overall I am pleased with my decision.

Congrats, glad you finally pulled the trigger!
Just curious, how is it being delivered for what cost & distance?

it really depend on where you live. From what I understand anything that is on a major route like interstate 40 is going to be cheaper. I used several different sites and within minutes had multiple brokers calling my phone. The cheapest I found was $0.33/mile. I would say the average price I was quoted was $0.39-0.40/mile

Ooh, I'm glad you snagged that one! I like it. It made me the most jealous out of all the trucks you posted.

Thanks, 83. It was my favorite as well. The downside was it is the deluxe instead of the SR5 so it’s a 4sp and has no a/c

Both can be added, as I'm sure you know.

I have a source that has a factory ac setup he will sell. Would I be better getting that or aftermarket?

First on the list is check and change all fluids and repair and prime those holes on the bed to prevent rust.

No idea on the aftermarket. I'm lucky with where I live. I almost never use AC. I didn't realize anyone made aftermarket AC. Hopefully someone else knows.

Nice truck! And sounds like you got a great price on shipping. That can be a hassle. It pays to take your time and do your research. Youll have to let us know when it arrives

lookin good .. glad you found one you liked .
stock A/C is best , so if you have a line on that , I do think that is your best option . Vintage Air makes some what of a kit .. but it dosnt fit well from my understanding .

It should be here tomorrow evening or early Wednesday. I’ll be sure to snap some pics and post then when it arrives.

I am going to contact the local guy that has those parts I was wanting and setup a time to go get them. I also noticed a few other parts I’ll need but I don’t know if he has them. You can see in the one pic that the small panel on the inside of the tailgate is missing. Does anyone know where I can find one? I know I can fabricate one if needed but I prefer to get an original

The easiest way is probably finding a complete tailgate and getting it off there. Theyre riveted together IIRC, but ill look tmrw.

Thanks, Sam. But if you look closely at the photo it shows the other panels held on by Phillips screws and the missing panel has the square threaded back plugs. It could have been riveted originally and changed to screws, I’m not sure.
I should know more tonight or tomorrow morning. That is when it should arrive

Glad you finally bought one. Now the fun begins. That missing panel in the tail gate was originally held on by the same Phillips head screws that are holding on the other two. IIRC, all three are identical and interchangeable. I had to remove mine to lube the tailgate handle/latch mechanism.
