Tune up blues

the truck was running fine, and then came the minor tune up consisting of new spark plugs, plug cables, and cap and rotter. Now shes is running a little hard with a minor studder only when cold.
i am thinking maybe a bad plug, but not sure where to start my trouble shooting.
thanks in advance...Rick

What type of plug did you use? From what i gather, the oem ngk or denso plugs are the best

did you double check the gap on the plugs before you put them in?

the first plugs i used were ngks unfortunately my gap was way off, recommended gap is 32..i had them at 38..lol.
so i bought a new set of plugs this time gaped correctly, the studder got better, but still not running how she use to.

any one think maybe a carb problem?

Could be a carb problem but I'd look other places first.

Fuel Filter?
Timing?
Air Cleaner?

Seems like your symptoms are related to the tune-up, but sometimes things just happen at convenient times

well i have changed the distributor, new cables again and checked the timing. She has improved a bit, but still not running like she use to.
i was told that the coil might give me studder miss at high rpms.

any ideas any one.

Defies logic doesn't it, a harmless simple replacement n bang zoom, prob's. You said it was subtle, but them are the worst.

You say you bought another set of plugs to solve the gap issue? Are you relying on pre-gapped plugs to be correct? You should double-check anyway. Sorry if you already know this. All plugs torqued to spec and wires on securely? It's often the easy things. . .

Check the gap on the coil pickup (sits under your distributor rotor) Should be right around .006 if I recall correctly.

If your truck was running good before you did this "tune up" then there's a good chance it was something you did. Go back and double check everything you did
