OK i have a 83 with a sloppy transmission is their any way to take out the slop. wen i have it in 4low i can not put it into reverse without taking it out of 4low any suggestions.

 

have you checked your oil levels, and any metal in the tranny oil, or transfer case

 

Is it the transmission itself or just the shifter that is loose? If shifter, check the condition of the bushing in the shifter base:

New shifter bushing and seat from Marlin will prolly fix it.

 

i cheek the level of tranny fluid and wen i drained it i found 2 looks to be Sensurround teeth

 

take some pics and upload them to photobucket.com to post your pics. copy and paste the [IMG] code your will find next to/under your picture. After being abused for 25 years but who knows how many owners anything could happen to these old trucks.

the symptoms your desribed are exactly what my truck was doing and it was solved by replacing the bushing like 4crawler showed
