Congratulations on that one of kind find! The story behind your acquisition is a thing of beauty. If only we all could have such good fortune. As for for what you paid for it, and why you did, that is the most beautiful part. You, my good Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar of the highest order and I commend you.

FYI...

Soon (OP) hasn't posted anything for more than a year. Well, with a truck in that condition, maybe he hasn't had any problems and too busy enjoying it!

Uh, I didn't look close, and don't remember the story on that Hawaiian red pickup we saw on ebay recently, but is this the same one? I don't remember the bed cover. Different one, isn't it? Another mint first gen red 4x4 !!?

Bro, I'll be damned! That is the same truck. That has got to be the same truck. It had the same roll bar and came from SC and had a note pad of every fill up and the mileage recorded for 30 years, That is definitely the same truck. Question is who is, Soon? He must be the guy in Hawaii or he sold it to the guy in Hawaii. Go figure, Admin should merge these 2 threads.

Maybe he decided to go another 27 years to be reunited and have that same feeling all over again.

This is a good photo reference for what my truck SHOULD look like. I own a 1979 4x4 short bed. My truck is optioned exactly like this one, except that I have a tan interior.
The sad part/good part about my truck is that it only has 37,000 miles. Everything on my truck is 100% totally original, including one tire. BUT my truck spent it's entire life as a parking lot plow truck in NJ. The rot is so bad on my truck that there is not enough money in the world resurrect my truck. My eventual goal is to build a truck like the one here in the pictures. So I need to find a rust free S/B 4x4 body and frame and swap all of my truck into it. Anyone know of a rust free body and frame?
