WOW, OMG, Most amozing all ORIGINAL 1st gen Toyota in the world.

Guys, check out this truck that just got listed on ebay yesterday. It is freaking amazing! I would pay $10k all day (if I had $10k). Besides just wanting you all to see it I have a question for you experts out there.
Listen to the engine on the youtube video. Does that sound right to you guys? It sounds to me like it has a very pronounced "TICK" in the motor. Probably had the valves set wrong by some bone head that thinks its the same as all the 22R's: exhaust valves for this truck should be set at 14/1000's (NOT .0012). What do you guys think? I want all opinions.

That's real nice, but for $10,000 in this day and age it would probably sit in my garage and I would just invite my friends over just to look at it, but don't touch. I just couldn't see buying it and wheeling it. It's just to clean. So it wouldn't be for me. Need something to fix up.

that is amazing. So, this guy in Hawaii buys it from the original owner in Carolina, two years ago, and now wants to SELL it??

You don't buy that car unless you want to keep it in your garage, or flip it.

"It's either build another garage or sell this truck" LOL

What an amazing truck.

brah, your truck is really nice too and I would pay $10k for it as well . Thanks for the info. I wonder what that guy paid. It seems like the original owner knew what he was doing by keeping all the detail records and original paper work. Like he knew what he had and made him pay for it. It sucks that he shipped it to Maui because it will cost close to $3k to get it back to Florida. I have been watching these trucks on ebay for months. I bet it wont break $10k. Maybe $12k just because I have never seen one this clean before. We shall see.

It's a nice truck no doubt but no way I'd pay $10k for it. I'd rather pay $10k for that Hilux above.

He ends the listing...after some guy bids $16,500?

Bidder o***e Cancelled: US $16,550.00
Explanation: The seller ended the listing early and cancelled all bids.
Bid: Nov-22-12 16:17:52 PST
Cancelled: Nov-23-12 12:21:05 PST
Then he goes and relists it...and now nobody wants to pay more than $3,550 for it...

Hmmm...I wonder WTF is up with that? Somethin' smells fishy to me...

mudhippy is right, why would you take all bids out after a 16.5k bid?

He said he accidentally deleted the listing while trying to add info. He was adding that the truck came factory equipped w/ power steering. As of 7am eastern sat morn, it's back up over $10k.

Nice, but what can you do with it?

One of the reasons I love my old SR5 is that I am not afraid to engage 4WD and climb a mucky mountain trail. And there's the fact that it has over 225k miles and runs fine. That is why it is a head turner, even with the faded paint. It is a testament to the durability and quality of the design and build.

Yes, it is really a nice truck (I agree with you OP), BUT... If anyone uses that nice little "brand new" red '80 4WD on a dirt road, they would be sorry forever!

As I said, What can you do with it? ksti is dead on (2nd post)... I think it is for a museum.

But someone will buy it, for $15k... and then will realize that they won't be able to do anything with it besides drive around on clean dry pavement. It is obvious that's all it has been used for so far!

sure is a nice truck, but I'd take the 10x81s in the condition of my truck I could have bought for 25k. Plus I'm not afraid to hop in my truck with dirty shoes.

The truck is not original as stated. Truck was partially repainted (Front valance and other areas), Has SR5 components which were only available with bucket seats, did not see a mini console in front of bench seat (I might have missed that) and numerous other areas that make me question it. Still, nice looking truck.

My 79 was equipped almost identically to this, but was trashed when I bought it.

I wish Toy would just manufacture it again as a new vehicle. I would pay 15-20 G's for this as a new truck. As a 30 year old truck in this good of condition, it would be under a cover in a climate controlled shop =)

Suncomb - You got me thinking about the factory bucket with SR5 options, my truck was equipped that way. If you look at the pictures on ebay, the window sticker is there. It lists a "sport truck package" with "amp/oil press. gauge console" and "3 color knit cloth vinyl seat". Pretty sure the interior is bone stock.

Exterior, there are certainly some very minor changes, but not many...
