I cant believe my truck once looked like that. That is what I dream of one day building. Short bed, stockish, really clean and really original. Beautiful truck. I dont think Id be able to keep it in that condition. Even if I just drove it on the road, the west coast isnt very nice to these trucks..

hah you paid more for it than it cost brand new!! Just kidding though obviously the value has only gone up on that thing not to mention inflation. Honestly, if I was the owner or Manager of Toyota, that is what a 2009 tacoma would be, the exact same damn thing they started with in 79'. Really...why did they even change them? That truck vs. a 2009 tacoma Id pick that truck ANY day for any situation.

BTW its not for sale just a question.
I would be willing to pay up to $6k for it. But you have a nice truck for sure. I would not change a thing except maybe the wheels but nothing else. Make sure you put fresh fuel in it and to check the hoses for dry rot. Kudos on your find!

That is so sweet. Reminds me of my first toy. If I could find an 81 that was that clean I'd buy one too. I owned that black one for 10 years.

A lot of folks wouldn't consider it a classic but I do. I have it insured as a classic with Hagerty Classic car insurance. At first they wouldn't insure it since they have a policy against insuring Toyota trucks newer that 1979 but when I told them it's story and they took a look at the pics they agreed to insure it.

That's a beautiful truck. I love the chrome front bumpers. When I bought my truck from Toyota in 1980, I didn't even know they made a 4wd mini-truck. I went to buy a Corolla and saw the red sport 4wd sitting on the show room and just had to have it.

Very sweet. In this economy its worth what ever the seller can get for it. I do think what you paid is not out of the question. Especially with the good cause bonus.
