I did that when I was first starting with cars and had to turn off the stereo all the time. Did you set up a way to not turn off the radio and still not drain the battery? I do not drive the toy very often and don't want a dead battery every time I go to use it.

ive never had any problems and my dad does it to and either does he....when you think about it uses less power cuz the ign isnt on sending power to every thing else....when i had it set up in my 82 like that i had the radio going for about 3-4 hrs without starting it and it started like up(cant work on stuff without music)
just make sure u shut it off n you should be fine

Well I installed the sterio today with an ignition source rather than the battery. It works great. I ran all my wires for my cb but have not turned it on yet. For the cb antenna coax does it matter if it is ran buy my power and ground? Static?

If you want it keyed jsut run it to the keyed 12V for the cigarette lighters, thats what i did with mine. Also make sure that you run a permanent 12V cord to the hotwire for the memory, otherwise youw ill lose your presets/settings every time you remove the key.

he may not know this, and i sure as hell dont... there r a few red wires behind the bezel... and i dont have a cig lighter... had one in, but it started smoking cuz i had it on a hot wire.. which one is the keyed wire?

My Cig Lighter is not keyed, it just stays on all the time.

on aftermarket stereos there should be a wire that runs to the battery(yellow wire) and one that goes to your ignition switch(red wire). Just wire it up like it says. For the cb just go directly to the battery(both positive and negative). If your cb doesnt have an inline fuse make sure to use one. Since your already wiring everything you might want to consider running an inline noise filter, there cheap and they help.
