Just for the record, after i "fixed" this it lasted for like 10K before it seized at the next large roll over. After all the work i did on it, i just stopped caring about it. i think its at 269999 now. Cable was still working and could hear it click every tenth mile or so for a few months then it stopped clicking. Recently i discovered that my speedo cable is broken. So that may be the cause, or the ODO stuck again, Or the small gear in the ODO broke. i don't know. I estimate its at about 300K or more now.

I never removed the gauge face. couldnt really access much, did the best i could do and it worked for a while. Guess thats not much help. Best of Luck. i have plans to order a new speedo cable and maybe remove the cluster again in the future once i find a new steeping column.

Thanks for the update and its a bummer it stopped working for you again. I hope the cable fixes your issue. I left the plate on as well and was able to remove the pin and pop the whole assembly out. It was so dry and sticky i could barely turn them by hand. I've been greasing everything up and will be putting it together soon. I'll keep you guys updated on how it came out. Hopefully i fixed the issue and not made it worse by breaking my trip meter.
