lower SR5 gauges will not bolt on. Why?

I picked up the lower instrument cluster off craigslist thinking that it would bolt directly up to my '82 DLX 4x4 truck. . . Unless I am really stupid I cannot see how they're suppose to mount! Is there a bracket that's missing? Can someone explain how they mount or take a photo of one installed? I'm at a loss on this one. I just have the Haynes manual and can't find any worthwhile illustration of it's mounting position/ features.

Many thanks

There is a bracket, welded onto the floor hump that the 2 lower screws bolt into. You can fabricated one from 3/4" stap, bend the ends and fasten the strap to the floor. There is another bracket off of the heater that the upper screws bolt into; find a used one or make one from 1/2"-3/4" strap.

I don't have any pics but there is a mount that is welded onto the trans hump. There's a hole on either side of the heater box for the top side screw holes of the plastic, yours looks like the holes are egged out. The two bottom holes go to a bracket that then attaches to the floor mount You may be able to fab up a mount for it, or go to a junkyard and buy/see what I mean.

Yeah you're missing the brackets. Whoever sold you the gauges should have included them (or you should have grabbed them from the donor truck).

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but if you look closely you'll see the bracket you need in front of the shifter.

Can anyone resize to make the picture bigger?

The gauge pod is about a 2" wider than the heater... So there is about an inch-wide gap between the holes and the gauge pod. I can tap threads into those holes and use a spacer but I'd like to see a photo of someone's factory mount if possible. Send to desk@rentallstore.com if you have some shots.

Sorry, you're right, stock there is two pieces of strap that attach to the gauge mount then to the heater box. Then a bracket that attaches to the bottom of the gauge mount then to the mount on the trans hump. This setup is Waay to complex for me. I just made a mount that fits the front contour of the heater box and picks up the two top screws to mount the gauges. My truck had amp/oil and I now have volt/oil.
Some day I'll figure out how to do pictures here.
