Howdy y'all, hopefully this is the right section to be asking these questions. So I don't have any keys for my truck, my uncles brother got locked up with them, and now I own the truck, right now she's safe, she's in a storage shed/garage, that has two locks on it secured in a fence in area. What I want to do and what my uncle encourages me to do is to get driver and passenger side door locks and a ignition, our locksmith will make me keys for 47 dollars. But when I emailed Toyota they said all the key cylinders were discontinued and the only ignition the had in stock was one with steering lock but my truck had to come with that and no tilt wheel. I already decided to go to a pick and pull and get one, but what advice do you guys have for me? What tools do I need to take it out? What should I avoid all together? What door locks and ignition will fit in a 81 cab?

All you need to remove the lock cylinder is a screwdriver (to remove the steering column cover) and a small pin or paper clip (to remove the ignition cylinder).

Nevermind, I think the pin thing only works with the key in the ignition.

I have a whole setup for you depending on where you are I don't have a key from ignition but I can make a key that you could bump to work I found out I can bump it when I took it out because the key had to be in it to remove ignition cylinder

also I would recommend Solex locks for the security Factor they fit perfectly in my 82 for the doors I still have the spring return so life I'm waiting for a flat hard top bed cover to install that one
