First off, sorry to hear about your dad, always a tough time.
It looks like the truck is not in too bad of condition, at least you know a lot of the history of the vehicle. I would suggest reading all you can here on Yotatech, Pirate4x4.com, Ultimateyota.com and other. Yotatech has got a better user friendly atmosphere than some of the other sites.

Other sites for good info and parts include:
Waskillywabbit (Brian a YT member) : http://wabfab.org/ I have ordered several times from him and had awesome service.
4crawler (Roger Brown) site: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/index.shtml Roger's site has got some great write up on how to do things...
http://marlincrawler.com/
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/

Hope this helps to get you started and welcome to YT

Cool Sounds like a plan. Make sure you get the dropped drag link....Somewhere I have a picture of my old '84 falling through the ice when I was driving up the frozen Eklutna River. It was an interesting recovery

I didn't bother taking pix of the 22r because, well it looks like half the thing is missing along with the rear drive shaft. Keep in mind it ran when I got it and I only paid $500 for it.
