Hey 1st Gen Pickup Crowd! **83 & Earlier ONLY** (Post your Pics Please!)

Ok this is my first post, I'm really looking hard for a new Yota and the pics on here are driving me crazy. So here are some pics of the one I'm looking at and I was hoping on some feedback. It's in pretty good shape, but the price is way higher than what you guys are paying and that has me concerned.
Specs: 1982 Longbed, 135k miles with Weber carb and a header. No rust I can find at all. Disc brakes all the way with 4.88's and rebuilt axles, I was told. Also rebuilt motor and tranny. Almost new mickey Thompson MTZ 33 X 12.5 and black steel wheels. New exhaust. Inside could use some work but not bad at all. No A/C and the flames are the first to go.

6500?......... Wow..... That seems high.
Even this is high, but getting more like it. .... And you can find plenty with no bed rest... & I mean zero rust!

Those are just a couple of samples I found a few minutes... yes they are in California, & I have no idea where you are. but as I told to many of the people that are now friends on here..., fly out with the weekend to spare and you will drive home and something for sure! Otherwise keep searching and best of luck to you.

Ha! The first one I clicked mentions scratches, dents and bed rust. Though bed rust is very common. The second one says “as is”. The third one says rebuild but I don’t believe it unless they have paperwork. Even if they did it themselves they would at least have receipts for parts. A lot of Ads out there say rebuild and no one seems to have anything to back it. And the last one says nice truck, good“conditions”.
IMO with the way all those trucks are described and their asking prices I personally wouldn’t waste my time, except for maybe the one in Fallbrook if he’s has something to show for the “Fully rebuilt 22R with less than 30K”. Plus the stereo, amp, subs and nearly new 33’s. He's says OBO, so you could most likely get it for $4500.00. If all that holds, it’s not a horrible price. As for them being high priced, it seems to be the average trend for a solid 6 months out here in Cali. 4 to 6K for anything that isn't completely hammered.
Good luck with your search... just be patient! Like everyone mentions here, they come up!
@Cman, yeah, I like the black rims, totally my style, had’em on my Taco. I know what you mean by tired of polishing.

This is my first post and as a first time yota kid I gotta say. Love this truck so much. A lot of fun to drive, even if it hates hills 😂 it's an 81 sr5, has somewhere around 213,xxx, who knows real miles, because it's been running 33s for as long as I've known. I bought it from the original owner. Owned it close to a year and have worked on it to bring it back to life. With a lot of help from my dad. When I first brought it home it was a mess, interior was dusty from sitting for so long, camper shell and the bed full of parts, some supra seats and an extra head, some old wet suit and things that have probably been there for the past 20 years! Never once noticed the Crome roll bar underneath the camper until it was home in the garage. Had hell trying to get it to pass smog for close to 8 months and a million trips to the DMV-.- as the po had done a de-smog when changing out the motor for a later 22r. Worked my butt off bringing the paint back to life through a lot of rubbing compound and hand polishing. And now it's my daily driver just going to work and home with around a 25 mile drive each day. Mostly down hill into town, and coming home...it screams in 3rd holding 4 grand to make 65. Love it though and wouldn't trade it for anything. Probably never going to sell it, but again I say that as a teen. Plans for it include finding some money saved to get a webber, small shackle lift to keep from rubbing at full lock, front springs as they are at a negative caster. And just keeping up small maintenance to keep this thing alive for a long long time.

Just CL-samples from a 30 second search from my phone, 2shots... But, while they sometimes have rust, the level is nothing compared to some of my buddies postings from back east, etc... And sure, theres always pricier ones that stay up for a while....then come down and down and down some more, once they realize they're feelers were numb. Haha...
I hear ya though....and it isn't just the toys that get Pricey round Los Angeles City. Old Datsuns, BMW's....

Hey ChefYota... sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was shooting you down ^^^ text never comes out the way you're thinking or speaking out loud. I am one in the bed rust club, and yeah who isn't? My truck was born and raised in Califorinia, still has it's share of bed rust. It's not horrible, but it's there. Looks like there was a camper on it for a long time which actually protected the bed for the most part.
As for high prices, it always goes back to as much as someone wants to pay.
