Toyota never made camper shells or shag carpet. Everything in the bed was added on but a nice color match.
Interior is pretty nice. Find an oem radio and uncut dash bezel and it's pretty much back to factory.
Floor mats are not from Toyota but are period correct aftermarket.
Also that random blue wire hanging out of the fuse panel was added by a previous owner. Probably for the stereo.
I just inherited my grandfather's '80 longbed SR5. He took great care of it other than putting a lot of dings in the bed but for the last fifteen or so years it's been badly neglected by my father. I spent a lot of time in it with my grandad so restoring it is quite important to me. As someone who's never done anything harder than replacing spark plugs and cleaning a throttle plate I'm sure there are major engine problems I'm not even noticing. Still drives fine except the steering is loose, so tightening that up is my first priority.
I don't even know how this thing is still running.
hey im new here but here is my project. shes an 83 barn find and im doing a frame off 100% rebuild.. 83 barn find unfortunately has an 87 box new frame blasted and epoxy coated new floors and now the cab is off to paint shop
Ok. So this truck is in running condition, but how much should it cost to restore the exterior? I was quoted a price...but I'm trying to see if it's too much or not. I asked to replace the hood, left and right fender, grille, dash, and both doors. Prime and paint the truck as well. I can prob install the seats myself. There are holes in the floorboard. I can prob do it myself, but really don't have the time or space. (please don't ask the price I was quoted, I'm trying to get an idea of how much it should be)

Hi peoples, I thought I would post some pictures of my first Toyota Pickup. I bought it new in 1983. Brand new in 1983 After I replaced the rusted out bed.
They look awesome. Working on one now. Just after I bought this. Took me 6 weeks to get the bed liner off the whole truck. This was in three pieces. I used fiberglass and made a space for the touch screen.
New member to the forum! I've been looking around and see lots of great advice and help with other builds, so I think I have found the right place. Not to mention some amazing trucks!
Below are some current pictures of my 1980 Toyota Long bed with a Buick 231 swap. I bought this truck when I was 15 years old with farm work money and rebuilt the motor as part of my shop class. Drove it all over (not very gently) with its 33 x 12.5 Mickey Thompsons on it. Unfortunately my enthusiasm off road led me to ruin the motor at the end of my senior year and I had to part with it (traded a family friend to get another truck). I left for the service 3 days after graduating and have moved 17 times since.
The friend that bought it rebuilt the engine, drove it 300 miles and parked it on his property, never to move again. Fast forward 2 1/2 decades and my bother calls me saying he ran into the friend and he mentioned he still had it. Below are some pictures of what happened next!
I last saw it my senior year of high school, blew the motor, and left for work just after graduation. This was the picture I took as I walked up to it 27 years later.
[img alt="Finally back in my garage! The hood and passenger fender (along with a bent front clip) happened while it was parked. The only damage on it (besides rust obviously).

Puppy approved Not stock. 1976 Buick 231 V6, Comp Cam Need to replace/repair the radiator support Cab is a bit nasty, but the only rust is on the driver side cab mount and gas pedal mount. the rest is rust free. Rust repair should be fun
