Hello, new to me 1st gen

Just wanted to say hey. I have been a lurker for a while and finally picked up a 1st gen. Her name is Judith and she is a 1980 shortbed. Power brakes, power steering, AC, sun roof... riding in luxury. The trans is a 5spd so I am playing the ID game now, since my research says it should be a 4spd.

I will post some pics tomorrow.

Its my first older yota so I am sure I will have plenty of questions.

Also, I need to get emissions done on it and everything looks to be there (holy amount of vacuum lines!) but the heated intake duct (I think thats what its called). So if anyone has one for sale let me know. Also interested in a FSM too.

Thanks
Mike

Here are the pics, not sure if its lifted but it does have 31x10.5s on it. Once I get a pass on emissions I will start on the body work, paint, then rebuild the front axle. After a bunch of searching on here I think I finally understand the knuckle rebuild and birfields. I have always used Jeep,Chevy, and Ford axles before. So the birfield vs u-joint set up took a little getting used too. I have found finding parts for these is a pain, thought there would be more people restoring them. Its not like my chevelle where I can put together a whole car out of a catalog.

Definitely no lift. Looks pretty nice!

No, you find brand new body panels or parts out of a catalog. You'll need junkyards and the classifieds on sites like this one. I can't imagine what it would be like if all my parts were in a catalogue...

It's funny that the cv joints on the Toyotas are called birfields; the ones on my '58 Chevy Napco are called rzeppas. I haven't had my Toyota axle apart but from the pictures in the shop manual they look the same as the ones on my Chevy. I bet that no parts interchange though. :-(

Well, anything's possible. Not without persuasion, though
