Engine Options/opinions

I've been unable to decide what to do and am looking for some other input, I can either rebuild my engine, get a rebuilt from a local shop that only does toyota motors, or get a imported Japanese engine with about 50,000 miles. Now i'm leaning towards rebuilding mine, or the imported motor, my worry with the import motor is will they know what to look for when I ask them if the head has the mounting holes for my PS? Also one website for imported motors didn't show a 20r for a 1980, they showed a 22r... will a 22r bolt in my truck with the L43 trans, my Edelbrock intake, and pace setter header for my 20r??? Also if you know a good place to get a imported motor please post a link for me.

Thanks!

The 22R will bolt right in. There are a number of suppliers like LC Engineering, Jasper, etc, that have rebuilt motors (partial or full) or can supply the parts necessary for you to do your own. I am partial to LC Engineering myself.

X2: go 22R. Your intake won't work for it, but your header might.

Thanks for the replies, but I actually think i'm going to do a 22r/20r hybrid with a Weber and my header and intake manifold. Does anyone know of a good build up thread for this? I've looked but haven't had much luck. Thanks!
