I have a 83 4x4 with the vent window. A couple of weeks ago I slammed the drivers side door a tad hard and shattered the window. I just got a used replacement window. I haven't tried to get I in there yet but before I have at it, what's the suggested way to get it in? Do the tracks need to come out ?

 

having never seen one but having taken hundreds of other doors apart, I'd say the main window will have to be removed and the track inbetween the 2 windows. Then there will likely be a screw under the door seal at the top of the vent window. You may have to take out the window regulator depending upon design. If its a manual window you'll have to remove the horseshoe clip on the back side of the window crank in order to get that off.

 

Got it done. I had to take the vent window part out to get the big glass in place. It wasn't bad at all.

It's pretty straight forward, all things considered, the pain is getting the wing window assembly out.
