Dome light LED
has anyone found an LED to replace the dome light for our first generations? (the one with the mirror on it)?
I've bought some but the LEDs are like bat wings and won't let it sink in.

If I remember correctly I had to remove a metal reflector from the stock dome light housing in order to make the replacement LED "with wings" fit. However, I still found that anemic so I added an LED strip.
If you don't want to install an LED strip, feel along the sheet metal strip where the stock dome light is and you may feel a second opening that is unused. It's pretty big; You can mount a separate light housing on that, and wire in parallel to stock dome light bulb OR install a separate switch for it. Tap power from positive side of existing dome light wiring. Be careful how much wiring sticks out from behind the new housing so it does not short against the roof.

I attempted to fit an LED bulb that I had in my spares box, but with the heat sink, it was way too big to fit. I finally settled on a standard-type bulb I had removed from a previous vehicle, which turned out to be much brighter than the very dim original bulb. Sometimes you just can't pound 2 lbs. of sand down a 1 lb. rat hole.

I got the 24 LED from LROR and it worked great and fit in the factory light location on the mirror.
