Difference from the helux and the 83 pickup?
I was just wondering if anyone had a brake down of the differences of the 83 pickup next to the helux of the same year. I know that they look close to the same. I just want to be able to spot one and know that it's a helux if it's in the US.

I think in 83 they were still pretty similar. Can't really say as I've never seen a Hilux any newer than 75 in person lol. I know that era of hilux were offered in crew cab and the Pickup was not. The hilux also had more diesel options I believe (the first-gen pickup was offered in diesel as well but only 2wd)
The only hold-up you may have will be getting a hilux titled and registered. As it was never sold in the US it was likely not crash tested eg you may run into some red tape issues, but I'm not sure on that either. I'm sure someone else here is a little more versed on the subject
So, stand by for better answers

83 was exactly the same with the exceptions of engine, emblems, and right hand drive. don't see any double cabs till 84, shows enlarged cab option in E P C but not really sure bout that. there was also a Toyota Stout that had same CAB but different bed. body lines were off on the stout because of bed. Think they were imported into South America.
