Changed the distributor drive gear!

ok so some of you may know I was going to change the dist drive gear due to a tooth getting chipped off in the accident about 6 weeks ago, well got the new gear and took the old one out and it went pretty smooth! just had to lossen the fuel pump and pull it out an inch or so so that annoying arm was not in the way, and then pulled the dist out then put it all back in and it was done! and an added bonus!!!!! the chipped tooth was right in the little puddle of oil that that hidden timing cover bolt is it! fits the chip like a puzzle piece! im happy!

oh, checked the timing and it seem just fine! maybe cuz it only has 54k on the engine or someone did it before I owned it who knows, but it was fine.

oh, did all this outside in 38 deg weather, hardcore hahaah

did you see my accident thread? the force of the radiator and top core support rail smashing agianst the distributor forced the dist shaft to crack/bend back in turn chipping a tooth off the drive gear, the driven gear was fine. so now new drive gear and distributor, along with a lot of other stuff ive done in the last 6 weeks.

oh I just re read my first post haha I did not mean to say the timing, I ment to say the valves haha I checked the valves and they seemed fine to specs, maybe due to the low miles? or someone did them before I had the truck? ive only put 4k on it.

Sweet. Glad you got it figured out. I remembered I was supposed to check my FSM for somebody...and it was probably you to help with that gear. Glad you got it figured out!

Didn't realized the oil pan was so low...but yeah the valve cover doesn't need much torque.
