Ok, so after alooong day of wheelin and finally killin my runner( see other thread) I jump in my 79 2WD to go and run to the parts house..

About a block down the road I have a big blue flash from under my front end..followed by nothing..no lights anywhere, and more importantly, no spark/ignition...

Whats this sound like to you guys...blown fusible link? and if so, where do I find it at?

ANY help is great! Im back to walking...

Positive battery cable either came off or touched the hood and was arcing/welding itself, killing the battery cells. Just a guess...

Mike beat me to it. I've forgotten to secure the battery and had it hit the hood and short out, Kinda like what you described. Check ground wires to body in the engine compartment, one is probably gone or very crispy.

Either that or it's just an Everett, WA thing.

My truck had the light indicator no starter problem, it turned out to be the ground. I ended up grounding the batt to the engine block and the fender as well as grounding the engine to the frame and cab. This seems to be especially important for trucks that see a lot of mud.
