I put a 2" body lift on my 1980 2wd sr5. I think I've got all the extension and alignment issues covered with the exception of the carb linkage. The linkage assembly is mounted to the firewall. Since the engine stayed on the frame in the original position the body lift resulted in the linkage being 2" higher than the rear of the carb where it connects. Looks like the two obvious options are either raise the carb or lower the linkage. The firewall has a pretty irregular shape and the linkage mount conforms. Lowering the linkage makes a shimmed together mess. Raising the carb means two inches of spacers between the manifold and carb base plus longer mounting studs. The concern I would there is vacuum leaks and carb performance. What's the best way to go here? Thanks

If you have a weber carb, you can use a transdapt adapter, which I run. It raises the carb 2 inches higher, you only have one plate (the spacer), two gaskets and it's a quality piece unlike the redline adapters which always seem to leak for 99% of the people. If installed and torqued properly you will not have leaks with the transdapt, plus it's around 40$.

Or you could get a linkage setup that mounts to the valve cover. I'm not quite sure why they mounted the linkage to the firewall on some years - that never made much sense to me.

most of the linkages that are on the fire wall have cruise control

what you need is to build some relocation brackets really its just 2-3 step offs from different bolts lower on the fire wall
