Blew a seal.

Git yer minds outta the gutter!

I noticed excessive travel in my brake pedal this morning. Still had brakes down toward the bottom, so I went ahead and drove to work. Since I start at 5:30 AM there was no way to inspect anything before work, so after work I popped the reservoir caps to discover the rear reservoir was bone dry.

Uh oh... that's not good.

After getting home I timed my efforts between torrential downpours to fill the reservoir and pump it up. I got pressure, but it wouldn't hold. Peeked under the car...damn.... I have a sheet of fluid running down my rear passenger tire. Pulled the wheel and drum. Yup.... blown seal on the wheel cylinder.

Drat.

Fortunately the local CSK has complete cylinders, as well as pads and shoes IN STOCK. Grand total is around $60.

Now all I gotta do is figger out how to get there and back.

Who, me???

Good to hear it's not an mc at least. Downpours, that's a given, ain't it? Hey, maybe all that water helped dilute some of the brake fluid tire flingage.

Just got done doing the rear brakes about an hour ago.

JUMPIN JIMNY what a difference new cylinders, shoes and flushed fluid makes!

ever since I bought the truck it's had sensitive brakes to the point that they were VERY easy to lock-up into a skid. Now it seems I can't get them to lock up no matter HOW hard I try. All this and I haven't even flushed/put the pads on the front yet!

P.S. I LOATH drum brakes! Such a pain in the arse to do....
