black stuff in exhaust

Ok Yall probably know I just rebuilt half my motor everything except the block well anyway it has been driving fine but I have been noticing white smoke when I start it up for the first time while cold well today I stuck my hand in front of the exhaust for ten seconds and I had spots of black wet sut or something. I'm not really sure what's going on but I don't think it's oil cause it don't feel like oil but my oil looks fine it's not milk looking everything seems fine the only thing that's isn't quiet right is it has very small hesitations every so often while idling and it doesn't seem like I'm getting good gas mileage. But anyway I could really use some help trying to get this right its very frustrating after all the money and its thus now but maybe it's minor Idk

I havnt checked them yet I only have 100 miles on it but I think some mite be condensation I'm not losing coolant but I want to know what the black stuff that's coming out of the exhaust is. I'm thinking its something with fuel maybe but I really don't no, I will say this I have a brand new weber 32/36 with factory jets I have Doug thorley try y headers a 261 cam and 2 inch exhaust with magniflo muffler. Maybe Yall can help me out a little but I'm going to look at the plugs when I get a chance

I forgot to mention once it warms up the soot and white smoke go away so the white stuff is condensation I'm sure I.just need to find out what the soot is all about. Maybe its running rich?? Could that be why it sputters every so often ??

Yes it could be, that's why you should check your spark plugs
As a general rule:
white spark plugs = too lean
tan/brown = correct mixture
black = too rich/oil consumption.

A little stumbling is normal too, and it is normal for it to run a little richer during warmup.

You may need to dial in the carb a little better, and timing and all that. But there's also a chance that because you did the job yourself, you're looking really closely at things you've never looked at before, and are noticing things that were always there.

The black spots are likely unburnt fuel. I'm sure most people's exhaust systems are lined with it, and little bits of it fly out here and there.

I'd just keep an eye on your coolant and oil.

Make sure the timing is spot on before, and that vacuum advance works, after that start playing with the carbs, there are lots of threads on weber tuning.

ngk are good.

If the idle doesn't change when you pull the hose off the distributer, your advance isn't working.

The plugs looks black to me but only around the edge I'm not sure what's going on but I played with it today got the timing right on and tuned the carb great and ran some seafoam, when I started it today that wet black soot is coming out pretty good for a couple mins then it goes away I'm not sure what to do next.

I'm just worried something is gonna mess up if I don't do something about it but it runs great has good power and doesn't sputter when I'm driving it only does it so often while idling but I have a fuel pressure reg coming in the mail so I'm gonna try that next but other than that I'm lost and my.gas mileage suck now
