What is the factory size as well as the requirement for cranking and cold cranking amps for a 79 Truck? I am suspecting when my battery box was replaced, that someone put in the wrong battery.

Im not sure what the stock amps were supposed to be, but I'm sure an optima is more.
And having more cranking amps is what you want.
My yellow top's is goin on 6 years.

I run dual yellows in the wheeler. Parellel configuration with no isolator. That doubles the cranking amps and amp hour capacity but not the voltage. Winches further and faster, and starts like its 70 degrees when its actually 30 degrees.

The battery is a group 58, which is like 650 cca. It cranks the truck ok. Its a budget dd, so no extra money is being put into it unless I can wedge the group 65 I have sitting on the shelf into it. Thanks for the input.
