Advice on swapping used 22r
I have a 82 Odyssey RV- which is basically an 82 PU with a 1 ton axle. I recently damaged the engine to the point of a full rebuild. I am cheap and lazy, and the RV is so old and rarely used (but still loved), that I don't want to rebuild. I have a used engine available with around 180k that was in a rollover but is undamaged. But I don't have any other history. But if I drive 20,000k in the next ten years in the RV, I'll be surprised. I am not a total newbie, but I have never done anything more inside an engine than minor valve adjustment. But I can follow directions and have rebuilt the carb, rear axle, and brakes, in addition to swapping out the alternator, starter, and other parts and putting in a new wiring harness. I have also replaced the timing belt, steering gear, rear dif, starter, alt, and ball joints on my 91 (3.0) just to give an idea of my experience.
So here is my question: to try and get a little life out of a used engine (i know its a crapshoot without a rebuild) what should I do while its out of the vehicle?
My list so far:
timing chain
Rear seal
oil pump?
Valve cover gasket
Head gasket?
Incidentally, I was already planning on doing the clutch before this happened, so that's in the plans, too.
Spray me down on what I am missing, but the engine is going into a rig that looks like a poorly kept mobil meth-lab, and is falling apart in so many other ways, so don't hurt me too badly.
Thanks
