83 grill and light swap?

It's possible and it's easy. Search.
Might or might not have to do some very minor drilling or bolt something on, and the wires connections are different, so you'll need to do a little splicing to get the lights next to the headlights to work. I'd cut that part off the 83 too while you're getting the grill and headlights.

to the OP here is a write up that was done by one member..it can work for converting your round to rectangle:
OldDirtyDirt did a nice write up on converting square to round headlights
This can be used to go round to rectangular too..
Parts you will need:
-two headlight aprons (doors, bezels) of the kind you want
appropriate grill (79-81 grills are not compatible with rectangular headlight -aprons and vice versa with out hacking stuff up)
-2 headlight buckets (round or rectangular)
-side marker lenses (again they are specific to the headlight style)
-head light lenses assemblies (now is a good time to updgrade to H4 style housings)
Side marker lights will need plugs swapped:

I was lucky enough to have both model trucks sitting there next to each other. I made a templet out of card bord and the 82-83 model has the same bolt holes for each model. Just mock it up and punch some holes. I kept my templates just for it!!
