82 Toyota carb mounting gasket

I have looked and called every where I can find the base gaskets for my yota carb. No one sells them unless they are part of the rebuild kit. I have found 83 gaskets and 80 but 82 is just a mystery. If anyone knows where I can get some PLEASE let me know. I made my own gaskets but they arent sealing correctly. Thanks

Wow. I never would have thought they changed that much between '82 & '83. They hardly changed anything between those years.

To be honest I cant see how thats the correct gasket but the auto part stores and online list that. Now the funny thing is the carbs are basically the same. The same one fits 81-88. Go figure

Have you tried the dealership? Honestly sometimes you've got to educate the parts stores...even the good ones. The difference will be that the good ones will want to learn what the correct parts are...
I had a serious issue with that with my Subaru. They had so many variations between years and within the same year, the aftermarket...market sucked. I would regularly come home with the wrong parts. Had to write down part #'s etc. to tell the parts people "no, actually that part won't fit, I need this one"...

Not saying that's definitely what's going on here, but don't trust the parts guy. I've even had to correct the dealership, and the guys at my dealership are good. Shouldn't it be obvious what shape gasket you need? I see a pretty major difference there. All the gaskets in that kit have two openings, and the '83 has one. I haven't had my carb apart yet so correct me if I'm off here, but are you looking for the gasket, or the spacer? There's a thick plastic spacer (base plate?) that goes between the carb and intake..

Turns out it was a dealer item only and they want 36 bucks for it. Oh well I made my own gaskets this morning and so far so good. No reaction to the chem tool so monday I will try and smog it one last time. If it fails them I am getting pretty set on a bad cylinder. Dont have the money or know anyone who has a compression tester but when I pulled the head to do a head gasket the cylinder walls looked perfect. Then again the engine is running way to good to have a dead cylinder. Vacuum lines are all correct 2. We shall see.

Ok so I decided to skip paying toyota 36 bucks for a new insulator and made new gaskets myself again but this time I took a lot more time to make sure they were near perfect. Shes running much better now.

Welp all that work and I still failed smog so im pretty much screwed. My valve guide seals are shot so its dumping oil into chamber. Not sure I can afford to rebuild or even buy a rebuilt head for this thing. Seriously considering parting it out.
