'82 22r vibrates on turning off
hello all,
i've got an '82 half ton with a 22r. runs great, only 108k miles. the only problem i am having is that when i power the truck off, the engine or transmisison vibrates to the point that the truck shakes a bit and then powers off. sometimes it is harder than others, when it's worst it thumps before it shuts down. the engine does not vibrate like this any other time, only a second before it is shut off.
any advice would be appreciated.

sounds like it is 'dieseling'

It could be a few things, not just fuel cut off. Sometimes it's timing, sometimes faulty wiring, dirty or sticky carb, dirty piston chambers, rich mixture, gooped up cooling system. There are quick easy things that you can try, first one being a cooling system flush, then if that doesn't help move onto some of the harder fixes!

Turn the key to on and unplug the connector going to the carburetor. Plug it back in and you should hear the fuel cut solenoid make a tick. Also check your timing and check for vacuum leaks. Make sure your idle is correct. Those would be the quickest things to check.
Does it sound like it runs a little or does it just vibrate? My old Brat would vibrate when I shut it off but I know It was not dieseling. I have had my Toyota diesel before and it would seem to shut off fine and then about a half or a second after it was all the way off it start to run again for about a second or so. It turned out that I had mixed up the positive and negative wires in the connector going to the fuel cut solenoid so it was not working properly.
