22r swap

Could i mount a 22r w/ a 5spd tranny in place of the 20r and 20r 4spd tranny? Are the mounts the same?

What year is your truck? I have a '79 and it's had a 5 speed swapped into it just fine except that the floor had to be trimmed a little at the shifter to accomodate it. It's got a 20R going into it. The 22R and the 22-RE that you are talking about are basically the same engine except for the ECU, fuel delivery system, and the electronics. Is the Engine and Transmission coming with the old COMPLETE wiring harness (including ECU)? If not, don't bother trying to wire the injected engine into your truck unless you like pain or work as an Electrical engineer. The 22RE will fit up fine, as with the transmission, but be prepared for the amount of electrical work involved with this engine swap.

Oh just forgot!! This one is an important one! You will also need the gas tank and the fuel pump out of the EFI truck if you are gonna go for it, as well as any associated lines. You will have to change all the old neoprene lines on your truck over to high pressure lines made for the PSI that the 22RE needs.

I have the efi truck, but i was just gonna go w/ a 22r, and my buddy didnt change out the gas tank, but i may keep it carb to see the power. It may already have the 22r in it, the first owner was an engine freak and put 22Rs in lots of his cars. I think im gonna look at piecing together the efi kit, and rebuild my blown efi in my runner so i can have a dd and a rig.
