1983 pickup headlights issue

i've having issues with my headlights, they don't work. i bypassed the switch and can hear the solenoid clicking, and i put new fuses in, anyone have any idea, the guy i bought it from had hardwired them to the battery on his last trip, then didn't drive it anymore, i know the lights are good, but can't make em work.

Have you checked the fusible link at the battery there is one for the headlights it may be burnt in two?

The one relay and fuses are usually up front:

Note that the headlights are grounded to turn them on:

If the headlight switch is otherwise in good shape, bypassing most of the stock wiring might be an option:

found it, was the fusible link, thanks for all the tips, and the relay was under the dash near the brake pedal arm, and the fuses are also under the dash.

I had the same problem. The headlights are powered straight from the battery terminal. Tighten the nuts that you see on the top of the battery terminal wires.
