1983 aftermarket heater!

The center vents blow mostly cold air. Play with the settings on your heater controls and see what does what. Most people think there's something wrong, when really, it's just how they were built. I think there's only one setting where those center vents don't blow cold air.
Might be defrost.

As an alternative, maybe a few feet of 3" defroster ducting might be able to fit from the transfer box to the dash vents. It would be a cool quick fix until the right parts show up.
As an amusing story, my truck had sat in a field for about 10 years before I bought her, and squirrels had gotten into the heater box. Their stash of dusty, dessicated acorns would rattle around every time I ran the heater until I pulled it apart. I ended up with a stitch in my side from laughing so hard from that find.

If I see a fresh controller at any parts yards around here, I'll remember to snag it. The ducting is tougher to find. I tried to replace some of mine that a PO had mangled up with some kind of lighter or hot knife or something. I ended up just patching it.
