The center vents blow mostly cold air. Play with the settings on your heater controls and see what does what. Most people think there's something wrong, when really, it's just how they were built. I think there's only one setting where those center vents don't blow cold air.

Might be defrost.

You'll get used to it...

i'm missing a few pieces of ducting too, but they're only two connections on the driverside that are UA. I need a new controller too, mine is unreadable and is missing all the knobs.
If I see a fresh controller at any parts yards around here, I'll remember to snag it. The ducting is tougher to find. I tried to replace some of mine that a PO had mangled up with some kind of lighter or hot knife or something. I ended up just patching it.
As an alternative, maybe a few feet of 3" defroster ducting might be able to fit from the transfer box to the dash vents. It would be a cool quick fix until the right parts show up.

Awesome! Let us know how the new motor goes!
As an amusing story, my truck had sat in a field for about 10 years before I bought her, and squirrels had gotten into the heater box. Their stash of dusty, dessicated acorns would rattle around every time I ran the heater until I pulled it apart. I ended up with a stitch in my side from laughing so hard from that find.

I appreciate that. And I know what you mean in regards to the PO blues. The guy I bought this from could f*** up a wet dream and kill everyone in it. He melted most of the ducting (somehow) and I've managed to find a piece here and there over the last 6mo, but im missing the piece that connects the driver side vent ducting (and vent) to the blower, the center vent(s) section thats right on the front of the blower (above the oil press/voltage guages) and the piece that connects the driver side defrost duct to the blower.
