I think this thread will help a lot of 1st gen guys, including me, on applying aftermarket wheels to your rig. please post pics of your upgrade, or downgrade wheels and tires with size, backspacing , spacer/adapter size ,amount lift etc.ive seen a few that I really liked but....no info!

mine has a 3" lift with 33x10.5x15 bfg a/ts on black aftermarket steel rims,3.75 backspacing.plan on going back to an aluminum wheel,just don't like the black.

These came with the truck. I don't even know the width, but they look the same as the ones on my Chevy, and have the same size tires: 235-85R16.

Not pre 85 truck, but always loved the chrome rims of that era. They were also put on the 60 series land cruiser. So, I put them on my truck as a homage...of some sort.

 

Well I am going to go old school on yall. I have always loved the wheels and found these in pretty bad shape but they cleaned up like new with my media blaster. You will either love them or hate them. 15x10's with a 4" offset. 33x10.5-15 coopers. and yes I know the fenders are dented. I have big plans for her and its about to start happening. Hope this helps.

 

Some brand new thornbirds that were 33x12.50's and just to much for the truck. Pics show before the bent fenders. Compliments of the thornbirds sliding side to side in ruts and trees



also the truck when i first got it with the wagon wheels and dry rotted 35x9 I think buckshots. also the stockers that came with it. Needless to say momma had a few shoes. But the Coopers stt's are the all around best

 

It's too bad they stopped making those Buckshots. They were the OG mud tire and look the best on these trucks.

I saw a guy elk hunting with some thornbirds on a F250. That guy was stuck everywhere, even in minimal stuff. They were just round slicks in the snow and mud. Glad you got rid of them.

I actually like the white wagon wheels and the Buckshots best on your truck. Good looking truck either way though...

 

Thanks, But the wagons were rusting pretty good and I found these turbines on craigslist for a 100 bucks and have always loved them.. Thanks for the complements though, and the Birds were by far the biggest waste of money and gas known to man.

 

I used to run Buckshot mudders on my 1 ton chevy, tires were pretty soft but best I ever had on it.

Kinda like the tall skinny look above there. 35x9 huh

 

I chose the wheels because I wanted 16" x 7" format to install a 8 or 10 ply commercial strength snow/mud tire. Floaters are OK if you like to run in mudbogs or drive on the beach, but I want tires that cut into mud and snow. That means narrow and tall, with radial snow/mud tread. This combination turned out to be MUCH heavier and TOUGHER than I thought it would be, so they bite through and grip incredibly well in deep snow, slushy snow, and mud. They'll actually do well rock climbing too. These wheels are HEAVY and unbreakable... and the tires are HARD. Max psi is 80 But This is not a delivery van. I am running 40psi now, but will back off to 20 when I need to make these get through a rough situation.. can't wait
