1981 Short Bed Window Sticker
Just picked up a 1981 Sr5 4x4 and in the paperwork found the original window sticker. We can add this to the '79 window sticker on a previous posting. A pretty pricey truck in 1981, about $29,000 in 2013 dollars.

Nice truck, Black Package and all!....noticed on the sticker it originally came with the SR5 stripping, they are still available from James Dean Creations if your interested in putting them back on. I did them on my 81 and they really add alot to the look.

Thanks! My intention is to restore the truck to stock/original condition. The current aftermarket tire/wheel package will be replaced with the Toyota chrome wheels and smaller tires. The truck has a pretty awful respray and a few dents on the body. Will have to strip the paint, fix the dents and re-stripe the body and apply the original decals on the back. The original SR5 seats are sitting in the bed and need upholstery work. The moonroof is a nice option! The interior is in pretty good shape aside from the warped door panels. It has the original Dunlop spare tire and the original selling dealers license plate frames! There is a winch mounted on the front and I'm not certain if it a Toyota accessory part or simply aftermarket. Should be a fun project!

I had the same Warn winch setup on mine, it was installed at the dealership when new, according to the original owner. My 81 has the factory moonroof also, a nice feature. Your truck looks real nice, probably not alot of Black Pkg's left out there, definetly worth getting back to stock...Where did you find it?

The original owner was having problems getting the truck to pass California Smog and became frustrated when the local mechanics couldn't diagnose the problem. He posted it on Craigslist in northern California (Chico) to get rid of it. I spotted the listing and drove 2.5 hours after work just to see it. I bought on the spot as it is exactly the truck I had been looking for. It needs work, but is a great starting point.

A small update. Found a set of original SR5 wheels so off came the rusty Appliance aftermarket wheels and on went the "less rusty" Toyota wheels. The previous owner installed a bench seat but kept the original buckets in storage. They were pretty beat up so I had the bucket seats rebuilt but reused the original cloth insert which was still in pretty good shape. New foam was added in addition to the black vinyl and they are really comfortable and look new. Been fixing things here and there and repainting some of the faded and discolored plastic in the cab. Also, puffed out the paint with Meguires Ultimate Compound, amazing stuff. Paint really shines! Next up is new carpeting.

Thanks for the positive comments!
I had tried to order new seat material from Toyota but, of course, this was no longer available and there wasn't anything really very close to the original weave in the aftermarket either. Decided to try to salvage the center panel material to make it as close to original as possible. LOTS of grumbling from the upholstery man but he agreed to give it try. He did a great job and even repaired a few holes in the weave which are nearly invisible now.
The paint looks good in the photo but in reality is pretty poor. Lot of flaking and the roof is mostly primer as the paint in been burned off. There are a number of dings along the sides too. Eventually will have the dents fixed and repainted but looks pretty good as it stands now. Will look awesome with new paint and stripes applied.
Yes, took the winch off (weighs a ton) and have it for sale.
Anyone have any experience with any of the carpet kits available? Looking for good fit and quality. The carpet in mine has turned into kind of a weird dark green color.
In my case "R100" is a Mazda.
