1979 Hilux Combo switch replacement

Take the horn button off and loosen the steering wheel nut underneath the horn button. Do NOT take that nut completely off. Sitting in the drivers seat and using your palms, smack the steering wheel towards you going around the rim. The steering wheel will pop off. If you remove that steering wheel nut completely, the steering wheel will smack you in the face when then wheel pops off. A loosened nut will stop the wheel from doing this. Good luck!

What r100guy said. If the steering wheel hasn't been off in awhile, you might need to get the steering wheel puller. Hopefully it will come off without it. Remember to mark the end of the steering shaft before removing the steering wheel, so you can get the steering wheel back on in the same place, otherwise your steering wheel won't be lined up straight when you drive. Good luck!

Combo Switch
Still can't correct my hi-beam, intermittent wiper and now turn signal failure(s). Have tried replacing the combo switch 3 time now
with 2 old ones (original switches) and 1 new OEM Chinese one and still can't solve the problem. Checked all the associated fuses. Are there
some other relays or something else that's causing these weird failures?? Any ideas...Help!!
Thanks

@konagreen I had similar issues on my 79 where high beams weren't working and turn signals started behaving erratically. If you have continuity at the switch terminals it probably isn't the switch. Have you checked the headlight relay? When you switch the high beams on are you hearing a click? Check if you are getting 12v on the relay terminal. Headlight relay is on driver side. Check continuity between relay and headlights. For me I had a wiring fault between the relay and headlights. The relay is like 40 bucks, so it probably isn't the relay if you're getting a click and headlights work. Save yourself 40 bucks. These trucks are 45 years old, the OEM wiring is gonna fail at some point. If you haven't figured out how a multimeter works and how to test continuity I'd start there. Things will make sense after you figure that out. I attached wiring diagrams that are pretty accurate for my 79.
