The engine that blew up in my '89 4runner had been swapped out previously for an 81-84 early model block. After hot tanking and checking the block, they were going to have to sleeve it and do a bunch of work on the areas that the thrust washers went as the crank had been bouncing around and had more or less trashed the block. I pulled a later model block out of the junk yard and had the machine shop bore it .40 over and do the work on the head. However, they installed and did all of the work on the original head not realizing that it didn't mate up with the later model block. I ended up having to get a new LCE head for my current engine (there was a crack in the one from the junkyard), but had the freshly machined early model head with all the goodies installed left over an no lower end to put it on.

my late model engine installed.....

All work was done by Ledford Performance Machine in Waco Tx.
