..........Sorry for the lame question but I'm away from home and need to buy the propper size sockets to remove the drain plugs for the Diffs, tranny, and transfer case on an 88 Runner. Anyone know off hand??? Thanks for your time................TIM

tim,
i dont know specifically for your vehicle, but when you are buying tools, always buy the set. at least for my 98 4runner w/ V6, you will need different sizes for all of the plugs you mentioned---the rear diff being the largest.
just buy yourself a large set of metric tools and then you'll be covered just fine

When working on Toyota's, these are the sizes you need:
8,10,12,14,17,19,21,22,24,30,32,36mm. To answer your questions you need 24mm and 17mm for the trans and diffs. I believe the fill plug for the tranny is 17mm and the diff and the transfer case is 24mm.
