Tool Roll Recommendation

Anybody seen a good size tool roll out there?

I thought I was slick finding a small trunk size tool box with two drawers that held just about all the tools I would need for almost any trail fix I could think of.

Not complete socket or wrench sets, just what fit MY truck. The tools I always end up getting out whenever I work on or prep my truck for a trip.

I was a happy camper until I actually wheeled with it. What a noisy, rattling, banging, son of a gun. I can't stand it. Plus it's going to end up self destructing over time.

Anybody found a good tool roll or canvas bag setup to hold trail essentials?

If you can sew make your own. ok you'll need a machine that can do canvas.

If you fill the tool box with closed cell foam it can pretty much eliminate all the noise and rattles.

Takes a little trial and error but it works.

There are a bunch out there, a quick google search will get them. I use a canvas tool bag that came with my Skill drill and circular saw combo. A few rags on top and eliminate most of the noise.

Like the larger ones on this page...

try a harbor freight 5-gal bucket organizer and cut it so you can use it as a roll-up, no need to sew. i have some cheapie Work-Force bucket organizer that i got for like $5 a few years ago with a mini level and a few other tools, and did what you want to do with it, works great. i guess i should go find it and re-purpose it for trail tools now.

I have one of those tool bucket carriers .

It was not bad when doing HVAC work but in the truck it rattled and clanged and fell over if I forgot to hook the tarp strap.

Now granted I am not out bouncing over rocks the roads of Pa are bad enough .

I never hear my tools bouncing around if they are in my tool box.

Just thought I'd update this. Off Road Trail Tools has some flexible socket holders that are pretty slick and a couple real nice roll up tool organizers.

I'm going that route with some canvas bags. I also put a lot of stuff in large ammo cans to keep it protected and all ready to go when I need them and easy to unload when I don't need the weight.

I'm in hot ass AZ so I usually have my rear slider open and the rattling tools drive me nuts.

I have a couple of Bucket Boss tool rolls I got at home depot over the summer. I really like them..
Looks like they have been discontinued but you might find them on ebay

Copy and past from my build thread....Ergodyne Arsenal 5870 Tool Roll-Up

"A hammer, gorilla duct tape, electrical tape, fuses, multi-tool, flashlight, 550 cord, tape measure, 1/2" breaker bar and tire changing socket, bottle jack and jumper cables are stored elsewhere in the truck.

What's in the bag:

1. 1/2" Socket Wrench
2. 1/2" Deep Impact Sockets - 10,12,14,17,19,21
3. 3/8" Socket Wrench
4. 3/8" Impact Sockets - 10,12,14,17,19
5. 4 3/8" Various Length Impact Extensions
6. 4 Various Socket Adapters
7. Wrench Set - 8,10,12,14,17,19
8. 3 Pliers (Needle Nose, Linemans, Pipe/Pump)
9. Large Vice Grip Pliers
10. 3 feet of 14 Gauge Wire
11. Various Wire Connectors
12. Zip Ties
13. Pencil
14. Wire Brush
15. 3 Screwdrivers +/-
16. Rubber Gloves

I chose impact sockets for a few reasons; 1) They're harbor freight so I figure the stronger type might be better, 6 point, and I would likely bring my cordless impact wrench on a long trip.

Two things I just noticed I'd like to put in there is a socket for my spark plugs and some allen wrenches since my can-back bolts use those type.
