Hey Shawn, I read that there's 2 actually trails that runs parallel and merges in a lot of places. One for high clearance 2wd and the other for 4wd.

This is from Dirtopia:

The roughly graded route in this trail is suitable for high clearance 2WD in dry weather. The US Forest Service has designated this trail as 2N47.

There is a separate 4WD trail (marked as X2W47) that runs parallel to the main route and is smaller. This one intersects the main trail often and has a rating of "difficult". The good news is that drivers are able to view the route beforehand and can choose the sections they want to leave out. The start of the trail has an easy rating which gets tougher as you move towards the top of the Cleghorn Ridge.

cleghorn literally has a maintained dirt road for the entire length. there are several turn off with various difficultly. being an open 2wheel you are going to have to horse it something awful to do some of it and still you wont make every turn out. but there's nothing stopping you from following the dirt road and meeting up with the group at every intersection. just take the turn outs that look doable.

im out for sunday and steve is too due to him rear ending a acura. hes fine but heart broken. i have a google earth path on ultimate yota that shows about where we go other then the squeeze i think but it will give you an idea of how the dirt road mingles with the wheeling trail

have fun!

Sweet! We have family to stay with down in Manhattan Beach so it's not too much of a haul to get there, at least we can split it up a bit. I guess it's not too bad according to Google it's about 4.5 hours from Los Osos to the lake.
