MOAB Spring Break

My family and I go out to Moab every year for spring break, and this year i've got some pictures... It was a good trip all around, we ran Elephant Hill, Poison Spider Mesa and Golden Spike. I roached a tire on Golden Spike, and because of that, it got too late for us to finish the trail and Gold Bar Rim. Here's the pics:

View From Camp 1

Elephant Hill

Camp 2

Poison Spider Mesa

The waterfall

Navigating the Wedge

Near the top of the mesa

Golden Spike

The Launch Pad. The pics don't do it justice.

Constant steep fins to ascend and decend

This is as far as we got, this is the obstacle that got my tire

This is where the flat actually occured. The side wall compressed and the rim cut a 2 inch slice through the side, though you cant see the cut in the pictures.

Attempting to change in place...we finally had to drive out of this spot on the flat to get the tire changed.

sorry the quality sucks so bad...they were resized down to fit on the page, and for some reason, they are grainy? You get the idea though.

no, they are the KA's...the KO's are the current ones, as far as i can tell...the tires are about 10 years old, got a really good deal on them, and they were almost new.

No, didn't get to mollys tub. My dads truck is virtually stock, and he's pretty carefull about the stuff he goes on, so moderate trails are about all he's willing to go on.

I'll get on those other trails later in the year.

Great pics! Where do you usually camp when you're out there?

Also, did you get your front locker figured out?

we camp different places...Camp one this year was out on BLM land on the way into canyon lands, about 10 miles out from the highway. Camp two was 6 miles back on a jeep road that took off out of Arches NP...We like remote camping...generally if there aren't any other people for 5 or so miles, my dad is pretty happy.

Yeah, the compressor was bad, so i got a new one shipped, and it works great.
When will your truck be done?

Yeah, I've camped at the Lockheart basin turn off before you get to Canyonlands - there are some nice spots there. Next time I'm out in Canyonlands I want to do Elephant Hill. I haven't been on it since I was a kid and it scared the crap outta me

Truck is almost done - hopefully this weekend *crossing fingers*. It's been in the shop forever!

Thanks Eric

Brian, yeah, lockhart is really cool too...we've camped so many places out there, i can't even remember. One of our favorites is back in Devils Kitchen, Campsite 4...its one of the coolest spots i've ever camped in.
