Or maybe they took the phrase "sporting wood" too seriously...

However...this all remains to be heard...(suspense...gasp )...

That is true. I am not aware of any designated campgrounds in the area, so that is why I asked. I would love to make a run up there and camp close to some of the trails in that area and still have a fire, but don't know how to make that happen.

We grabbed whatever we happened upon in case we found a campsite that would allow it, but instead it ended up being used as campsite furniture.

Bummer! It sucks to haul wood around and not get to use it. Besides, camping is never the same when you can't have a fire

If you would like to take a trip up there I would be more than happy to show you that pile of wood. I sure wouldn't want you posting my picture and lisnense plate.

I don't know why the attacks lately but they must stop.

WOW thats awesome... I wish we had Rocks and hills like that in my part of the world. All we get is dirt hills and mud.

Sorry about the "Break" Thank GOD no one was hurt... That defenitaly had potential for a RollOver situation.

It's always awesome to hear about other Wheelers helping out the stranded guy.

hahahaha It's been a while since anyone called me that...

No trip required, I was just asking a question. I was interested in where you could have a campfire in the area, but it sounds like you can't There was some talk years and years ago about developing some of that area for camping, but I never heard what came of it...

Sorry you are feeling attacked.

There is designated camping in that area, around Manastash Lake, but you can't drive down to the lake. It is ATV, horseback or foot only and it is a 1/4 - 1/2 mile trek and that is more effort than I'm willing to put for camping.
Form where we were camped you could see the whole lake and the campfires.

hahahah I have camped up on a ridge in Greenwater during a burn ban. Down below you can see a developed camp area on the river, with people dancing around their campfires, while we sit up top and freeze our fannies off. They get these raging bonfires going that are spraying sparks in the air down below, but less than an 1/8th of a mile away as the crow flies, we would be breaking the law by having a tiny "indian" fire. Go figure. Of course, we are camped in a relatively pristine area and they are camped in, well, a "developed" area
