DeSoto Trail Jaunt

Took a trip with Westy44Runner and a few friends to Crown King this weekend. After some time in the Saloon we found some camping near Horsethief where we did a little fishing the next day. Finally made it to the trail at 2pm on Saturday, and home by 10pm.

The trail starts getting interesting once you dip into the Tuscumbia Creek wash. Brian landed on a rock pretty hard but his sliders took the hit well. I need to install my crawler box, could've really used it here.

Once we passed the windmill at Goat ranch the monsoon hit hard. It was an awesome experience climbing those hills in a downpour with lightning striking all around. Got to witness trail erosion first hand.

Overall a very fun trail, with a bit of rock crawling and some awesome hillclimbs. Nothing too dangerous but there were moments of heart flutter as there are several tippy sections near large ravines.

We found this guy just hanging out in the creek bed. We named him Marlin.

Those trails look awesome. I love scenic trails that are hard too. Looks like a blast.

Nice pic's!

That's one of my favorite putput trails! It makes for a great 1/2 day trip.

A couple of years ago we hit the uphill section just to the north of the DeSoto after a hard rain. It sucked - traction was non-existant in the clay. Had one rig bust a bead using wheel speed to get up the hill - I dang near rolled trying to get down to help...

Desoto was a great run, my first time up there, the mud in the creekbed was nasty though. There were some fun optional lines in the creek too.
It looked like the trail had recently been maintained by a local club as well...
