Unfortunetly I am writing to inform you that Gillespie Gulch is closing. I was just wheeling up there today, and discovered that the entire trail had been bulldozed. The trail can be done in 2wd now, the chutes are gone, as is the first hill. All the rocks on the lower part of the trail have been removed.

I contacted the forrest service, and they informed me that the person who owns the house that you drive by at the start is closing the entrance, and that mining is going to be resuming farther up.

Nugget Hill will still be open, but the Gillespie Gulch trail is no longer open for wheeling. There is a gate being constructed at the bottom, which will completely block access.

I know not too many of you have done this trail, as it wasn't that hard, but thought i'd warn people, so you don't make the drive for nothing.
