1st Recovery!!

so my dad traded a buddy of his for this tow strap and i ended up "borrowing" it permantly as i headed up to school. well there really isnt anywhere to wheel around here so my buddes and i decided to head out to the lake to mess around. this is where things get fun!

well he is in his big bad f-150 decided that they were gonna go through the mud hole... bad idea. he ends up burying the tires and while the water from the lake begins to come closer and closer up to his truck. well of course, he starts freakin out tellin me to hurry up, so i back down and break out the strap, hook him and wait for him to get back in.

while im waitin, THESE ARE THE WORDS that come out of our other buddies (drives an H3) mouth...

"hey man, i dont know if your little 4runner will be able to get him out there.."

oh man!!! i about flipped my lid here, but i ended up staying calm and just gave him a smile. threw it in 4wd, eased on the gas, and out came the f-150!

the hummer driver stood there with his mouth wide open, and i just sat there and smiled... then i turned around and went through the puddle the f-150 wasnt able to make it through

all in all, great time, finally able to say i pulled some out!!

haha yeah yotas tend to surprise people with how much torque they have. i puleld my buddy in (surprise! surprise!) his f150 with FALKEN lo-pro tires on it, through the sand for about 4 miles. people came up to us and my truck got all the attention and i even heard 'ford shouldnt have been playing in real mans land anyway' ... it was great

Got one of these, in chrome, to put on the back of the 4Runner after it's repainted.

oh if i was out there with that H3 id be finding anything possible to jump. the one and only time i jumped my yota it was not fun... i slammed my head on the roof and had a big bump there for a couple weeks, my butt was sore for like 3 days, and the cable going to the fuse box snapped due to the poor suspension. i recently got that properly fixed.. i just E-Taped the two cords together just to make it home, and forgot about properly fixing it... last week sautered the two wires together.. looks very professional

I just saw a commercial demonstrating the H2's capabilites, the 24" of water crossing capability and such. They were showing some gnarly crawling. Honestly, if someone is going to do anything like that, they are not going to do it in a H2/3. Just the OG Hummer.

It made me think of this thread.

impressive... well actually last night haha we had a huge bonfire and me and my buddy being pretty much the only sober ones were deemed the ones to make the last beer run of the night...

well on the way back with 3 cases in the back there is this big puddle at the entrance to where we were at.. (disclosed location haha) well i pull in that at about 25-30 mph and hit that puddle, well ends up straight launching the truck haha

ended up in the field next to the road with 3 cases of beer split open and 72 beers rollin around in the back of my truck haha

Try this link: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsignpainterchris

If you scroll through it, he has a whole bunch of "Recovery Team" decals. Worth the $4.

To date, with my stock 4Runner and crappy tires, I have pulled out of trouble the following vehicles:

-Chevette
-Cavalier (both within about 30 yards of each other, snow filled ditch in the Rocky Mountains)
-half ton Chev pickup
-Nissan Sentra
-Dodge Caravan
-Pontiac Montana
-Volkswagon Jetta
-Nissan Micra
-Kia Sorrento

Just be confident in knowing that we own a fairly capable rig right out of the box. I know I'll have more fun this winter, with the bigger motor and new tires...maybe that winch...and locker...
