the deal is i have a set of ome 47.5 in springs . my truck takes 43in .how can i make these work ?

Order a pair of trail-gear spring hangers http://trail-gear.com/rearhangers.html , cut off old front spring hangers and mount the new spring hangers in the correct location.

do i move the shackl mount or do two shackls

i would leave the shackles alone completely. just weld on the new hangers for the front of the springs about 3-4.5 inches forward of the old hangers. measuring from the center of the old spring hanger bolt hole, to the center of the new spring hanger bolt hole.
just tack the new spring hangers on. assemble the springs and everything set the truck down and check the shackle angle before you finish weld everything

it depends on how much weight your puttin in the truck and whether or not yer lookin for flex or a good ride. but i bet if your truck is stock. then you could just look at the angle of the shackle as it sits right now on flat ground and just try to get it as close as possible to that with the new springs and hangers.

ok thanks for your help.any one else have any input .it seems to me if i move the mounts up 4 in it would chang the axle angle and the tires to far forward in the wheel well

What sort of vehicle are you asking about? All the 1st gen Toyotas had 47" long rear springs:

Simple way to set things up. Take old springs and measure front and rear lengths (from the center pin to the center of the respective spring eye). Do the same on the new springs. Then move the front hanger forward a distance equal to the difference in the front lengths of the old and new springs. Then if all the added length is not in front, then either move the shackle hanger back or add that length to a longer spring shackle.

it'a a 87 pickup ex cab. what happens is when i jack the axle up to get the tire on the shackels hit the frame

Which way does the shackle swing, forward or back to hit the frame? And when you say 43" and 47.5" long springs, how are you measuring, i.e. eye to eye chord length or eye to eye along the arc of the main leaf (that is the proper way to measure)?

ok shakles swing back.old springs by arc length 26 3/4 r 20 1/2 f give or take.new springs 29 3/4 r 22 f . i might have the wrong springs but there made to give a small lift so ???
